A Love Letter
From Brian to Mindy
This is a poem/letter Brian wrote to Mindy reflecting back on the night he decided she would be his.
For A Moment Time Stood Still
Out in the grasswith the old quilt spread out
four friends sit
gazing in awe up above
while the stars twinkle
and tendrils of chill slither in
Two of the friends play
rolling around and laughing
they disturb the ground and blanket
but not the mood
For them they act with innocence
free from the expectations of others
and of feeling
they relax
the beauty of judgeless friendship covering all
Back on the fleece
they all speak, serious now
One of the two is quiet
on the edge he listens
wonders, ponders
The two turn in and their eyes meet
for the one, it is a sharp breath taken in
and then time stood still
In his mind it was as if a sun had exploded,
and then was imploding back on itself
In that moment
memories flooded back
and realizations occured
the one was stunned
The connection breaks
their heads go back
and time resumes
The one exhales, innocence gone
in its place is a chance for something special
friends they would stay, but not the same.
